Training in the operation and troubleshooting of modern commercial aircraft...

A320 FTD

Airlines and flight training academies use Atlantis simulation-based FTDs to train pilots and technicians in the operation and troubleshooting of modern commercial aircraft.

Atlantis FTDs provide high-fidelity, high-performance training at less than half the price of trainers that rely on real aircraft avionics. The FTD replicates the appearence and functionality of those parts of an aircraft's cockpit that are needed for the training to be performed. The FTD's controls and instruments are driven by computer-based simulations of the aircraft's systems to provide realistic responses to trainee inputs.

Atlantis FTDs feature robust and certifiable simulations of all aircraft avionics and displays, including FMS, EFIS, autopilot/autothrust, and EICAS / ECAM systems. Digitally controlled loading of primary flight controls is also available.

Cockpit primary flight displays, navigational displays, and engine indications are accurately portrayed. Engine displays and audible/visual crew-alert systems simulations present all information necessary for the training task. Realistic engine models provide consistent indications of all engine parameters.

The simulations of all major systems are fully functional, which means that most training that does not require a high fidelity flight and ground handling model or visual system can be accomplished on the FTD alone.

By simulating the aircraft's systems, autopilot, and navigational and operational instruments, the Atlantis FTD allows a large number of pilots to be trained to a consistently high level of competence in a short time.

Atlantis FTDs can be engineered to meet each customer's specific training objectives and budgets. Available options include:

  • FAA Qualification Levels 4 through 7,
  • Single and multi-channel visual systems,
  • Accommodation of customer-furnished aircraft components,
  • Enclosed cockpit.

Atlantis has built FTDs for GE Capital Aviation Training, U.S. Airways, FlightSafety Boeing, Air Canada, Canadian Airlines International, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Jet Airways (India), Spirit Air Lines, Miami-Dade Community College, and others.
